The Scout Law

A Scout is -
trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, & reverent.

Each of these adjectives can have many meanings. Even to Boy Scouts the meanings of each of these words are many. When a boy has just become a scout the meanings may be quite simple, but as he grows the meanings can become complex and more significant.

One of the things that adult leaders like to ask is, "When is it hard to be these things? It is easy to be friendly to your friends and a much different thing to be friendly to those that are being mean to you."

On these pages you will find the "official" meanings of these descriptors, as well as what they mean to Scouts and pastors, along with examples from scouts' own lives of how they have lived the Scout Law.
