Writing Contests

There are three writing contests that you can enter if you are a scout in good standing of a Troop or Crew. The focus of each contest is different, but the underling values of the Scout Law are central to each.

Best example of living a point of the Scout Law when it was hard to so.

Best true story of how a scout older than you, helped you in your Scouting experience.

Best true story of how another Scout in you troop or crew, helped someone outside of Scouting.

The purpose of each of these contests is to encourage other scouts as they try to live the Scout Law themselves and to recognize those Scouts who are an example of being good Scouts.

The essay contests are run annually, with a submission deadline of January 15th and winners being announced at the end of January. Contest monetary awards are provided by the Nigel C Clarke endowment and in his memory, and by sponsoring councils, districts and troops
